Asketen und Brahmanen
„Mönche und Nonnen, es gibt Asketen und Brahmanen, die die Befriedigung und den Nachteil in der Welt und das Entrinnen daraus nicht als das, was sie sind, wahrhaftig verstehen. Sie erachte ich nicht als wahre Asketen und Brahmanen. Diese Ehrwürdigen verwirklichen nicht das Ziel des Lebens als Asket oder Brahmane, sie leben nicht, indem sie es in eben diesem Leben mit ihrer eigenen Einsicht erkannt haben.
Es gibt Asketen und Brahmanen, die die Befriedigung und den Nachteil in der Welt und das Entrinnen daraus als das, was sie sind, wahrhaftig verstehen. Sie erachte ich als wahre Asketen und Brahmanen. Diese Ehrwürdigen verwirklichen das Ziel des Lebens als Asket oder Brahmane, sie leben, indem sie es in eben diesem Leben mit ihrer eigenen Einsicht erkannt haben.“
Ascetics and Brahmins
“Mendicants, there are ascetics and brahmins who don’t truly understand the world’s gratification, drawback, and escape for what they are. I don’t deem them as true ascetics and brahmins. Those venerables don’t realize the goal of life as an ascetic or brahmin, and don’t live having realized it with their own insight.
There are ascetics and brahmins who do truly understand the world’s gratification, drawback, and escape for what they are. I deem them as true ascetics and brahmins. Those venerables realize the goal of life as an ascetic or brahmin, and live having realized it with their own insight.”
Samaṇabrāhmaṇasutta
“Ye keci, bhikkhave, samaṇā vā brāhmaṇā vā lokassa assādañca assādato ādīnavañca ādīnavato nissaraṇañca nissaraṇato yathābhūtaṁ nappajānanti, na me te, bhikkhave, samaṇā vā brāhmaṇā vā samaṇesu vā samaṇasammatā brāhmaṇesu vā brāhmaṇasammatā, na ca pana te āyasmanto sāmaññatthaṁ vā brahmaññatthaṁ vā diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṁ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharanti.
Ye ca kho keci, bhikkhave, samaṇā vā brāhmaṇā vā lokassa assādañca assādato ādīnavañca ādīnavato nissaraṇañca nissaraṇato yathābhūtaṁ pajānanti, te kho, bhikkhave, samaṇā vā brāhmaṇā vā samaṇesu vā samaṇasammatā brāhmaṇesu vā brāhmaṇasammatā, te ca panāyasmanto sāmaññatthañca brahmaññatthañca diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṁ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharantī”ti.
