Titanen
„Mönche und Nonnen, diese vier Personen findet man in der Welt. Welche vier? Einen Titanen, der von Titanen umgeben ist, einen Titanen, der von Göttern umgeben ist, einen Gott, der von Titanen umgeben ist, und einen Gott, der von Göttern umgeben ist.
Und wie ist eine Person ein Titan, der von Titanen umgeben ist? Da ist eine Person tugendlos, von schlechtem Charakter, und ihre Anhänger sind ebenso. So ist eine Person ein Titan, der von Titanen umgeben ist.
Und wie ist eine Person ein Titan, der von Göttern umgeben ist? Da ist eine Person tugendlos, von schlechtem Charakter, doch ihre Anhänger sind tugendhaft, von gutem Charakter. So ist eine Person ein Titan, der von Göttern umgeben ist.
Und wie ist eine Person ein Gott, der von Titanen umgeben ist? Da ist eine Person tugendhaft, von gutem Charakter, doch ihre Anhänger sind tugendlos, von schlechtem Charakter. So ist eine Person ein Gott, der von Titanen umgeben ist.
Und wie ist eine Person ein Gott, der von Göttern umgeben ist? Da ist eine Person tugendhaft, von gutem Charakter, und ihre Anhänger sind ebenso. So ist eine Person ein Gott, der von Göttern umgeben ist.
Das sind die vier Personen, die man in der Welt findet.“
Titans
“Mendicants, these four individuals are found in the world. What four? A titan surrounded by titans, a titan surrounded by gods, a god surrounded by titans, and a god surrounded by gods.
And how is an individual a titan surrounded by titans? It’s when an individual is unethical, of bad character, and their followers are the same. That’s how an individual is a titan surrounded by titans.
And how is an individual a titan surrounded by gods? It’s when an individual is unethical, of bad character, but their followers are ethical, of good character. That’s how an individual is a titan surrounded by gods.
And how is an individual a god surrounded by titans? It’s when an individual is ethical, of good character, but their followers are unethical, of bad character. That’s how an individual is a god surrounded by titans.
And how is an individual a god surrounded by gods? It’s when an individual is ethical, of good character, and their followers are the same. That’s how an individual is a god surrounded by gods.
These are the four individuals found in the world.”
Asurasutta
“Cattārome, bhikkhave, puggalā santo saṁvijjamānā lokasmiṁ. Katame cattāro? Asuro asuraparivāro, asuro devaparivāro, devo asuraparivāro, devo devaparivāro.
Kathañca, bhikkhave, puggalo asuro hoti asuraparivāro? Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo dussīlo hoti pāpadhammo, parisāpissa hoti dussīlā pāpadhammā. Evaṁ kho, bhikkhave, puggalo asuro hoti asuraparivāro.
Kathañca, bhikkhave, puggalo asuro hoti devaparivāro? Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo dussīlo hoti pāpadhammo, parisā ca khvassa hoti sīlavatī kalyāṇadhammā. Evaṁ kho, bhikkhave, puggalo asuro hoti devaparivāro.
