19. Araññavagga
Die am Fuß eines Baumes leben
„Mönche und Nonnen, es gibt diese Fünf, die am Fuß eines Baumes leben. Welche fünf? Jemand lebt am Fuß eines Baumes aus Einfalt und Dummheit … aus unlauteren Wünschen heraus … weil er verwirrt oder geisteskrank ist … weil es von den Buddhas gepriesen wird … um der Genügsamkeit willen … Das sind die Fünf, die am Fuß eines Baumes leben.“
Dwelling at the Root of a Tree
“Mendicants, there are these five who dwell at the root of a tree. What five? One may dwell at the root of a tree because of stupidity … corrupt wishes … madness … because it is praised by the Buddhas … or for the sake of having few wishes … These are the five who dwell at the root of a tree.”
Rukkhamūlikasutta
“Pañcime, bhikkhave, rukkhamūlikā. Katame pañca? Mandattā momūhattā rukkhamūliko hoti …pe… idamatthitaṁyeva nissāya rukkhamūliko hoti. Ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca rukkhamūlikā”ti.
