Flecken
„Mönche und Nonnen, es gibt acht Flecken. Welche acht? Sie nicht aufzusagen ist der Fleck bei Hymnen. Vernachlässigung ist der Fleck bei Häusern. Trägheit ist der Fleck bei der Schönheit. Nachlässigkeit ist der Fleck bei einem Wächter. Fehlverhalten ist der Fleck bei einer Frau. Geiz ist der Fleck bei einem Spender. Schlechte, untaugliche Eigenschaften sind der Fleck in dieser und jener Welt. Schlimmer als all diese Flecken ist die Unwissenheit, der schlimmste Fleck von allen. Das sind die acht Flecken.
Sie nicht aufzusagen ist der Fleck bei Hymnen. Der Fleck bei Häusern ist Vernachlässigung. Trägheit ist der Fleck bei der Schönheit. Der Fleck eines Wächters ist Nachlässigkeit.
Fehlverhalten ist der Fleck bei einer Frau. Der Fleck eines Spenders ist Geiz. Schlechte Eigenschaften sind ein Fleck in dieser und jener Welt. Doch ein schlimmerer Fleck als alle ist Unwissenheit, der schlimmste Fleck.“
Stains
“Mendicants, there are these eight stains. What eight? Not rehearsing is the stain of hymns. Neglect is the stain of houses. Laziness is the stain of beauty. Negligence is a guard’s stain. Misconduct is a woman’s stain. Stinginess is a giver’s stain. Bad, unskillful qualities are a stain in this world and the next. Worse than any of these is ignorance, the worst stain of all. These are the eight stains.
Not rehearsing is the stain of hymns. The stain of houses is neglect. Laziness is the stain of beauty. A guard’s stain is negligence.
Misconduct is a woman’s stain. A giver’s stain is stinginess. Bad qualities are a stain in this world and the next. But a worse stain than these is ignorance, the worst stain of all.”
Malasutta
“Aṭṭhimāni, bhikkhave, malāni. Katamāni aṭṭha? Asajjhāyamalā, bhikkhave, mantā; anuṭṭhānamalā, bhikkhave, gharā; malaṁ, bhikkhave, vaṇṇassa kosajjaṁ; pamādo, bhikkhave, rakkhato malaṁ; malaṁ, bhikkhave, itthiyā duccaritaṁ; maccheraṁ, bhikkhave, dadato malaṁ; malā, bhikkhave, pāpakā akusalā dhammā asmiṁ loke paramhi ca; tato, bhikkhave, malā malataraṁ avijjā paramaṁ malaṁ. Imāni kho, bhikkhave, aṭṭha malānīti.
Asajjhāyamalā mantā, anuṭṭhānamalā gharā; Malaṁ vaṇṇassa kosajjaṁ, pamādo rakkhato malaṁ.
Malitthiyā duccaritaṁ, maccheraṁ dadato malaṁ; Malā ve pāpakā dhammā, asmiṁ loke paramhi ca; Tato malā malataraṁ, avijjā paramaṁ malan”ti.
