1. Das erste Kapitel

Sabhiya

Wenn andere das nicht verstehen, so wollen wir, die wir verstehen, uns in dieser Hinsicht zügeln; denn so wird Unfrieden beigelegt.

Und wenn die, die nicht verstehen, sich benehmen, als seien sie unsterblich, sind die, die den Dhamma verstehen, gesund unter den Kranken.

Jede lässige Handlung, jedes unreine Gelübde oder verdächtige geistliche Leben ist nicht sehr fruchtbar.

Wer keine Achtung vor seinen geistlichen Gefährten hat, ist so weit von der wahren Lehre entfernt wie das Himmelszelt von der Erde.

Chapter One

When others do not understand, let us, who do understand this, restrain ourselves in this regard; for that is how conflicts are laid to rest.

And when those who don’t understand behave as though they were immortal, those who understand the Dhamma are like the healthy among the sick.

Any lax act, any corrupt observance, or suspicious spiritual life, is not very fruitful.

Whoever has no respect for their spiritual companions is as far from true Dhamma as the firmament from the earth.

Paṭhamavagga

“Pare ca na vijānanti, mayamettha yamāmase; Ye ca tattha vijānanti, tato sammanti medhagā.

Yadā ca avijānantā, iriyantyamarā viya; Vijānanti ca ye dhammaṁ, āturesu anāturā.

Yaṁ kiñci sithilaṁ kammaṁ, saṅkiliṭṭhañca yaṁ vataṁ; Saṅkassaraṁ brahmacariyaṁ, na taṁ hoti mahapphalaṁ.

Yassa sabrahmacārīsu, gāravo nūpalabbhati; Ārakā hoti saddhammā, nabhaṁ puthaviyā yathā”ti.
