Mahānāga
Wer keine Achtung vor seinen geistlichen Gefährten hat, kommt von der wahren Lehre ab, wie ein Fisch in einer kleinen Pfütze.
Wer keine Achtung vor seinen geistlichen Gefährten hat, wächst nicht in der wahren Lehre, wie ein verdorbener Same auf dem Feld.
Wer keine Achtung vor seinen geistlichen Gefährten hat, ist vom Erlöschen weit entfernt in der Anleitung des Dhammakönigs.
Wer Achtung vor seinen geistlichen Gefährten hat, kommt nicht von der wahren Lehre ab, wie ein Fisch in reichlich Wasser.
Wer Achtung vor seinen geistlichen Gefährten hat, wächst in der wahren Lehre, wie ein erlesener Same auf dem Feld.
Wer Achtung vor seinen geistlichen Gefährten hat, ist dem Erlöschen nahe in der Anleitung des Dhammakönigs.
Chapter One
Mahānāga
Whoever has no respect for their spiritual companions falls away from the true teaching, like a fish in a little puddle.
Whoever has no respect for their spiritual companions doesn’t thrive in the true teaching, like a rotten seed in a field.
Whoever has no respect for their spiritual companions is far from extinguishment, in the teaching of the Dhamma king.
Whoever does have respect for their spiritual companions doesn’t fall away from the true teaching, like a fish in plenty of water.
Whoever does have respect for their spiritual companions thrives in the true teaching, like a fine seed in a field.
Whoever does have respect for their spiritual companions is close to extinguishment in the teaching of the Dhamma king.
Paṭhamavagga
Mahānāgattheragāthā
“Yassa sabrahmacārīsu, gāravo nūpalabbhati; Parihāyati saddhammā, maccho appodake yathā.
Yassa sabrahmacārīsu, gāravo nūpalabbhati; Na virūhati saddhamme, khette bījaṁva pūtikaṁ.
Yassa sabrahmacārīsu, gāravo nūpalabbhati; Ārakā hoti nibbānā, dhammarājassa sāsane.
Yassa sabrahmacārīsu, gāravo upalabbhati; Na vihāyati saddhammā, maccho bavhodake yathā.
Yassa sabrahmacārīsu, gāravo upalabbhati; So virūhati saddhamme, khette bījaṁva bhaddakaṁ.
Yassa sabrahmacārīsu, gāravo upalabbhati; Santike hoti nibbānaṁ, dhammarājassa sāsane”ti.
