Die Zeit fliegt
In Sāvatthī.
Als sie sich zur Seite hingestellt hatte, sagte diese Gottheit in Gegenwart des Buddha diese Strophe auf:
„Die Zeit fliegt, die Nächte zieh’n vorbei, die Lebensstufen bleiben nacheinander zurück. Erkennt diese Gefahr im Tod und tut Gutes, das euch Freude bringt.“
„Die Zeit fliegt, die Nächte zieh’n vorbei, die Lebensstufen bleiben nacheinander zurück. Wenn er diese Gefahr im Tod erkennt, lässt ein Friedenssucher den Köder der Welt fallen.“
Time Flies
At Sāvatthī.
Standing to one side, that deity spoke this verse in the Buddha’s presence:
“Time flies, nights pass by, the stages of life leave us one by one. Seeing this peril in death, do good deeds that bring you joy.”
“Time flies, nights pass by, the stages of life leave us one by one. Seeing this peril in death, a seeker of peace would drop the world’s bait.”
Accentisutta
Sāvatthinidānaṁ.
Ekamantaṁ ṭhitā kho sā devatā bhagavato santike imaṁ gāthaṁ abhāsi:
“Accenti kālā tarayanti rattiyo, Vayoguṇā anupubbaṁ jahanti; Etaṁ bhayaṁ maraṇe pekkhamāno, Puññāni kayirātha sukhāvahānī”ti.
“Accenti kālā tarayanti rattiyo, Vayoguṇā anupubbaṁ jahanti; Etaṁ bhayaṁ maraṇe pekkhamāno, Lokāmisaṁ pajahe santipekkho”ti.
