Mit Subrahmā
Als er sich zur Seite hingestellt hatte, redete der Ortsgott Subrahmā den Buddha mit einer Strophe an:
„Dieser Geist ist stets unruhig, dieser Geist ist stets bedrängt von Schwierigkeiten, die noch nicht entstanden sind, und solchen, die entstanden sind. Wenn es einen Zustand ohne Unruhe gibt, dann beantworte bitte meine Frage.“
„Nicht ohne Verstehen und Inbrunst, nicht ohne die Sinne zu zügeln, nicht ohne alles loszulassen, sehe ich Sicherheit für lebende Geschöpfe.“
Das sagte der Buddha. … Der Ortsgott verschwand eben dort.
With Subrahmā
Standing to one side, the godling Subrahmā addressed the Buddha in verse:
“This mind is always anxious, this mind is always stressed about stresses that haven’t arisen and those that have. If there is a state free of anxiety, please answer my question.”
“Not without understanding and fervor, not without restraining the sense faculties, not without letting go of everything, do I see safety for living creatures.”
That is what the Buddha said. … The god vanished right there.
Subrahmasutta
Ekamantaṁ ṭhito kho subrahmā devaputto bhagavantaṁ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi:
“Niccaṁ utrastamidaṁ cittaṁ, niccaṁ ubbiggamidaṁ mano; Anuppannesu kicchesu, atho uppatitesu ca; Sace atthi anutrastaṁ, taṁ me akkhāhi pucchito”ti.
“Nāññatra bojjhā tapasā, nāññatrindriyasaṁvarā; Nāññatra sabbanissaggā, sotthiṁ passāmi pāṇinan”ti.
