1. Bhikkhuvagga
Gefährten
In Sāvatthī.
Da gingen zwei Mönche, die Gefährten waren, Schützlinge des Ehrwürdigen Mahākappina, zum Buddha.
Der Buddha sah sie von Weitem kommen und wandte sich an die Mönche und Nonnen: „Mönche und Nonnen, seht ihr diese Mönche kommen, die Gefährten sind, Schützlinge des Ehrwürdigen Mahākappina?“
„Ja, Herr.“
„Diese Mönche sind sehr mächtig und gewaltig. Es ist nicht leicht, einen erhabenen Zustand zu finden, den sie noch nicht erlangt haben. Und sie sind in eben diesem Leben zum äußersten Höhepunkt des geistlichen Lebens gelangt. Sie leben an dem Ziel, das sie durch eigene Einsicht erkannt haben, für welches ehrbare Menschen zu Recht aus dem Haus fortziehen ins hauslose Leben.“
Das sagte der Buddha. Und der Heilige, der Lehrer, fuhr fort:
„Diese Mönche, die Gefährten, waren lange Zeit zusammen. Die wahre Lehre hat sie zusammengebracht, die Lehre, die vom Buddha verkündet wurde.
Von Kappina wurden sie gut geschult in der Lehre, die vom Edlen verkündet wurde. Sie tragen ihren letzten Körper, Māra und seine Schwadron haben sie bezwungen.“
Die Verbundenen Lehrreden über Mönche sind abgeschlossen.
Das Buch über das Kausalprinzip ist zu Ende.
Companions
At Sāvatthī.
Then two mendicants who were companions, protégés of Venerable Mahākappina, went to see the Buddha.
The Buddha saw them coming off in the distance, and addressed the mendicants: “Mendicants, do you see those monks coming who are companions, protégés of Venerable Mahākappina?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Those mendicants are very mighty and powerful. It’s not easy to find an attainment that they have not already attained. And they’ve realized the supreme end of the spiritual path in this very life. They live having achieved with their own insight the goal for which gentlemen rightly go forth from the lay life to homelessness.”
That is what the Buddha said. Then the Holy One, the Teacher, went on to say:
“These companion mendicants have been together for a long time. The true teaching has brought them together, the teaching proclaimed by the Buddha.
They’ve been well trained by Kappina in the teaching proclaimed by the Noble One. They bear their final body, having vanquished Māra with his legions.”

Sahāyakasutta
Sāvatthiyaṁ viharati.
Atha kho dve bhikkhū sahāyakā āyasmato mahākappinassa saddhivihārino yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṁsu.
Addasā kho bhagavā te bhikkhū dūratova āgacchante. Disvāna bhikkhū āmantesi: “passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, ete bhikkhū sahāyake āgacchante kappinassa saddhivihārino”ti?
“Evaṁ, bhante”.
“Ete kho te bhikkhū mahiddhikā mahānubhāvā. Na ca sā samāpatti sulabharūpā, yā tehi bhikkhūhi asamāpannapubbā. Yassa catthāya kulaputtā sammadeva agārasmā anagāriyaṁ pabbajanti tadanuttaraṁ brahmacariyapariyosānaṁ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṁ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharantī”ti.
Idamavoca bhagavā. Idaṁ vatvāna sugato athāparaṁ etadavoca satthā:
“Sahāyāvatime bhikkhū, cirarattaṁ sametikā; Sameti nesaṁ saddhammo, dhamme buddhappavedite.
Suvinītā kappinena, dhamme ariyappavedite; Dhārenti antimaṁ dehaṁ, jetvā māraṁ savāhinin”ti.
Bhikkhusaṁyuttaṁ samattaṁ.
Nidānavaggasaṁyuttapāḷi niṭṭhitā.
