„Mönche und Nonnen, ich sage, das Töten lebender Geschöpfe ist dreifach: Es wird von Gier, Hass oder Täuschung verursacht.

Ich sage, Stehlen ist dreifach: Es wird von Gier, Hass oder Täuschung verursacht.

Ich sage, sexuelle Verfehlungen sind dreifach: Sie werden von Gier, Hass oder Täuschung verursacht.

Ich sage, Lügen ist dreifach: Es wird von Gier, Hass oder Täuschung verursacht.

Ich sage, entzweiende Rede ist dreifach: Sie wird von Gier, Hass oder Täuschung verursacht.

Ich sage, harte Rede ist dreifach: Sie wird von Gier, Hass oder Täuschung verursacht.

Ich sage, Unsinnreden ist dreifach: Es wird von Gier, Hass oder Täuschung verursacht.

Ich sage, Begehrlichkeit ist dreifach: Sie wird von Gier, Hass oder Täuschung verursacht.

Ich sage, böser Wille ist dreifach: Er wird von Gier, Hass oder Täuschung verursacht.

Ich sage, falsche Ansicht ist dreifach: Sie wird von Gier, Hass oder Täuschung verursacht. Und so sind Gier, Hass und Täuschung Quelle und Ursprung der Taten. Mit der Auflösung von Gier, Hass und Täuschung werden die Quellen der Taten aufgelöst.“

“Mendicants, I say that killing living creatures is threefold: caused by greed, hate, or delusion.

I say that stealing is threefold: caused by greed, hate, or delusion.

I say that sexual misconduct is threefold: caused by greed, hate, or delusion.

I say that lying is threefold: caused by greed, hate, or delusion.

I say that backbiting is threefold: caused by greed, hate, or delusion.

I say that harsh speech is threefold: caused by greed, hate, or delusion.

I say that talking nonsense is threefold: caused by greed, hate, or delusion.

I say that covetousness is threefold: caused by greed, hate, or delusion.

I say that ill will is threefold: caused by greed, hate, or delusion.

I say that wrong view is threefold: caused by greed, hate, or delusion. And so greed, hate, and delusion are sources and origins for deeds. With the ending of greed, hate, and delusion, the sources of deeds are ended.”

“Pāṇātipātampāhaṁ, bhikkhave, tividhaṁ vadāmi— lobhahetukampi, dosahetukampi, mohahetukampi.

Adinnādānampāhaṁ, bhikkhave, tividhaṁ vadāmi— lobhahetukampi, dosahetukampi, mohahetukampi.

Kāmesumicchācārampāhaṁ, bhikkhave, tividhaṁ vadāmi— lobhahetukampi, dosahetukampi, mohahetukampi.

Musāvādampāhaṁ, bhikkhave, tividhaṁ vadāmi— lobhahetukampi, dosahetukampi, mohahetukampi.

Pisuṇavācampāhaṁ, bhikkhave, tividhaṁ vadāmi— lobhahetukampi, dosahetukampi, mohahetukampi.

Byāpādampāhaṁ, bhikkhave, tividhaṁ vadāmi— lobhahetukampi, dosahetukampi, mohahetukampi.

Micchādiṭṭhimpāhaṁ, bhikkhave, tividhaṁ vadāmi— lobhahetukampi, dosahetukampi, mohahetukampi. Iti kho, bhikkhave, lobho kammanidānasambhavo, doso kammanidānasambhavo, moho kammanidānasambhavo. Lobhakkhayā kammanidānasaṅkhayo, dosakkhayā kammanidānasaṅkhayo, mohakkhayā kammanidānasaṅkhayo”ti.
