At the Peacocks’ Feeding Ground (1st)

Einmal hielt sich der Buddha bei Rājagaha im Wandererkloster auf, am Futterplatz der Pfauen. Da wandte sich der Buddha an die Mönche und Nonnen: „Mönche und Nonnen!“

„Ehrwürdiger Herr“, antworteten sie. Der Buddha sagte:

„Mönche und Nonnen, ein Mönch, der drei Eigenschaften besitzt, hat den äußersten Schlusspunkt erreicht, das äußerste Refugium vor dem Joch, das äußerste geistliche Leben, das äußerste Ziel. Er ist der Beste unter den Göttern und Menschen. Welche drei? Den Umfang der Tugend, der Versenkung und der Weisheit eines der Schulung Entwachsenen.

Ein Mönch, der diese drei Eigenschaften besitzt, hat den äußersten Schlusspunkt erreicht, das äußerste Refugium vor dem Joch, das äußerste geistliche Leben, das äußerste Ziel. Er ist der Beste unter den Göttern und Menschen.“

At the Peacocks’ Feeding Ground (1st)

At one time the Buddha was staying near Rājagaha, at the monastery of the wanderers in the peacocks’ feeding ground. There the Buddha addressed the mendicants, “Mendicants!”

“Venerable sir,” they replied. The Buddha said this:

“Mendicants, a mendicant with three qualities has reached the ultimate end, the ultimate sanctuary from the yoke, the ultimate spiritual life, the ultimate goal. They are the best among gods and humans. What three? The entire spectrum of an adept’s ethics, immersion, and wisdom.

A mendicant with these three qualities has reached the ultimate end, the ultimate sanctuary from the yoke, the ultimate spiritual life, the ultimate goal. They are the best among gods and humans.”

Paṭhamamoranivāpasutta

Ekaṁ samayaṁ bhagavā rājagahe viharati moranivāpe paribbājakārāme. Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi: “bhikkhavo”ti.

“Bhadante”ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṁ. Bhagavā etadavoca:

“Tīhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu accantaniṭṭho hoti accantayogakkhemī accantabrahmacārī accantapariyosāno seṭṭho devamanussānaṁ. Katamehi tīhi? Asekkhena sīlakkhandhena, asekkhena samādhikkhandhena, asekkhena paññākkhandhena.

Imehi kho, bhikkhave, tīhi dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu accantaniṭṭho hoti accantayogakkhemī accantabrahmacārī accantapariyosāno seṭṭho devamanussānan”ti.
