Worthy of Offerings Dedicated to the Gods

„Mönche und Nonnen, diese neun Personen sind einer den Göttern gewidmeten Gabe würdig, der Gastfreundschaft würdig, einer religiösen Gabe würdig, des Grußes mit zusammengelegten Händen würdig, das unübertreffliche Feld für Verdienst für die Welt. Welche neun? Der Vollendete und der, der für die Vollendung übt; der Nichtwiederkehrer und der, der übt, um die Frucht der Nichtwiederkehr zu verwirklichen; der Einmalwiederkehrer und der, der übt, um die Frucht der Einmalwiederkehr zu verwirklichen; der in den Strom Eingetretene und der, der übt, um die Frucht des Stromeintritts zu verwirklichen; und ein Lamm aus der Herde. Das sind die neun Personen, die einer den Göttern gewidmeten Gabe würdig sind, der Gastfreundschaft würdig, einer religiösen Gabe würdig, des Grußes mit zusammengelegten Händen würdig, das unübertreffliche Feld für Verdienst für die Welt.“

Worthy of Offerings Dedicated to the Gods

“Mendicants, these nine individuals are worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of greeting with joined palms, and are the supreme field of merit for the world. What nine? The perfected one and the one practicing for perfection. The non-returner and the one practicing to realize the fruit of non-return. The once-returner and the one practicing to realize the fruit of once-return. The stream-enterer and the one practicing to realize the fruit of stream-entry. And a lamb of the flock. These are the nine individuals who are worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of greeting with joined palms, and are the supreme field of merit for the world.”

Āhuneyyasutta

“Navayime, bhikkhave, puggalā āhuneyyā pāhuneyyā dakkhiṇeyyā añjalikaraṇīyā anuttaraṁ puññakkhettaṁ lokassa. Katame nava? Arahā, arahattāya paṭipanno, anāgāmī, anāgāmiphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno, sakadāgāmī, sakadāgāmiphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno, sotāpanno, sotāpattiphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno, gotrabhū— ime kho, bhikkhave, nava puggalā āhuneyyā …pe… anuttaraṁ puññakkhettaṁ lokassā”ti.

Tassuddānaṁ

Sambodhi nissayo ceva,
Meghiya nandakaṁ balaṁ;
Sevanā sutavā sajjho,
Puggalo āhuneyyena cāti.
