1. Das erste Kapitel

Wurzeln

Das wurde vom Buddha, dem Vollendeten, gesagt; das habe ich gehört:

„Mönche und Nonnen, es gibt drei Wurzeln des Untauglichen. Welche drei? Gier, Hass und Täuschung. Das sind die drei Wurzeln des Untauglichen.“

Der Buddha sprach diese Sache. Dazu wird gesagt:

„Wenn Gier, Hass und Täuschung
in einem aufgestiegen sind,
schaden sie dem Menschen mit bösem Herzen,
so, wie Bambus von seiner eigenen Frucht zerstört wird.“

Auch das ist eine Sache, die vom Gesegneten gesprochen wurde: Das habe ich gehört.

Chapter One

Roots

This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

“Mendicants, there are these three unskillful roots. What three? Greed, hate, and delusion. These are the three unskillful roots.”

The Buddha spoke this matter. On this it is said:

“When greed, hate, and delusion,
have arisen inside oneself,
they harm a person of wicked heart,
as a bamboo is destroyed by its own fruit.”

This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.

Paṭhamavagga

Mūlasutta

Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:

“Tīṇimāni, bhikkhave, akusalamūlāni. Katamāni tīṇi? Lobho akusalamūlaṁ, doso akusalamūlaṁ, moho akusalamūlaṁ— imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi akusalamūlānī”ti.

Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

“Lobho doso ca moho ca,
purisaṁ pāpacetasaṁ;
Hiṁsanti attasambhūtā,
tacasāraṁva samphalan”ti.

Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
