1. Das erste Kapitel

Elemente

Das wurde vom Buddha, dem Vollendeten, gesagt; das habe ich gehört:

„Mönche und Nonnen, es gibt drei Elemente. Welche drei? Das Element der Form, das Element der Formlosigkeit und das Element des Aufhörens. Das sind die drei Elemente.“

Der Buddha sprach diese Sache. Dazu wird gesagt:

„Die das Element der Form verstehen
und nicht im Formlosen stecken bleiben,
die im Aufhören befreit sind,
sie haben den Tod bezwungen.

Das Element, das frei vom Tod ist, hat er unmittelbar erfahren,
frei von Bindungen,
das Ablassen von den Bindungen
hat der Unbefleckte verwirklicht;
so lehrt der vollkommen erwachte Buddha
den unbefleckten Zustand, wo kein Kummer herrscht.“

Auch das ist eine Sache, die vom Gesegneten gesprochen wurde: Das habe ich gehört.

Chapter One

Elements

This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

“Mendicants, there are these three elements. What three? The elements of form, formlessness, and cessation. These are the three elements.”

The Buddha spoke this matter. On this it is said:

“Comprehending the element of form,
not stuck in the formless,
those who are released in cessation,
they are conquerors of death.

Having directly experienced <j>the element free of death,
free of attachments;
having realised relinquishment
of attachments, the undefiled
fully awakened Buddha teaches
the sorrowless, stainless state.”

This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.

Paṭhamavagga

Dhātusutta

Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:

“Tisso imā, bhikkhave, dhātuyo. Katamā tisso? Rūpadhātu, arūpadhātu, nirodhadhātu— imā kho, bhikkhave, tisso dhātuyo”ti.

Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

“Rūpadhātuṁ pariññāya,
āruppesu asaṇṭhitā;
Nirodhe ye vimuccanti,
te janā maccuhāyino.

Kāyena amataṁ dhātuṁ,
phusayitvā nirūpadhiṁ;
Upadhippaṭinissaggaṁ,
sacchikatvā anāsavo;
Deseti sammāsambuddho,
asokaṁ virajaṁ padan”ti.

Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
