The king asked: “Venerable Nāgasena, why does the sea have just one taste, the taste of salt?” “The sea has just one taste, the taste of salt, your majesty, because it has been around a long time.”
“You are clever, Venerable Nāgasena!”

Rājā āha— “bhante nāgasena, kena kāraṇena samuddo ekaraso loṇaraso”ti? “Cirasaṇṭhitattā kho, mahārāja, udakassa samuddo ekaraso loṇaraso”ti.
“Kallosi, bhante nāgasenā”ti.
