Puṇṇa (1)

Verbinde dich nur mit den Redlichen,
mit den Klugen, die das Ziel sehen.
Die Bedächtigen, beflissen und klar sehend,
verwirklichen das Ziel,
das so groß und tiefgründig ist,
schwer zu sehen, subtil und fein.

So wurde diese Strophe vom Ehrwürdigen Puṇṇa, dem Sohn Mantāṇīs, dem altehrwürdigen Mönch, aufgesagt.

Chapter One

Associate only with the virtuous,
the astute ones who see the goal.
The wise ones, diligent and clear-seeing,
realize the goal
so great and profound,
hard to see, subtle, and fine.

That is how this verse was recited by the senior venerable Puṇṇa son of Mantāṇī.

Paṭhamavagga

Puṇṇattheragāthā

“Sabbhireva samāsetha,
paṇḍitehatthadassibhi;
Atthaṁ mahantaṁ gambhīraṁ,
duddasaṁ nipuṇaṁ aṇuṁ;
Dhīrā samadhigacchanti,
appamattā vicakkhaṇā”ti.

Itthaṁ sudaṁ āyasmā puṇṇo mantāṇiputto thero gāthaṁ abhāsitthāti.
