Abhaya

Wenn man ein Bild sieht, ist die Achtsamkeit verloren,
da man den Geist auf ein anziehendes Merkmal richtet.
Man erfährt es mit begehrlichem Geist
und hält weiter daran fest.
Die Befleckungen nehmen zu
und führen zur Wurzel der Wiedergeburt.

Chapter Ten

Abhaya

When you see a sight, mindfulness is lost
as you focus on a pleasant feature.
Experiencing it with a mind full of desire,
you keep clinging to it.
Your defilements grow,
leading to the root of rebirth.

“Rūpaṁ disvā sati muṭṭhā,
Piyaṁ nimittaṁ manasikaroto;
Sārattacitto vedeti,
Tañca ajjhosa tiṭṭhati;
Tassa vaḍḍhanti āsavā,
Bhavamūlopagāmino”ti.
