1. Das erste Kapitel

Paccaya

Vor fünf Tagen zog ich fort,
war in Schulung, mein Herzenswunsch nicht erfüllt.
Ich betrat meine Behausung
und beschloss in meinem Herzen:

Ich werde nicht essen, ich werde nicht trinken,
ich werde meine Hütte nicht verlassen,
noch werde ich mich auf die Seite legen –
nicht ehe der Pfeil des Verlangens herausgezogen ist.

Sieh’ meine Energie und Tatkraft,
wenn ich so meditiere!
Das dreifache Wissen habe ich verwirklicht
und die Anleitung des Buddha erfüllt.

Chapter One

Paccaya

I went forth five days ago,
a trainee, my heart’s desire unfulfilled.
I entered my dwelling
and resolved in my heart:

I won’t eat; I won’t drink;
I won’t leave my dwelling;
nor will I lie down on my side—
not until the dart of craving is plucked.

See my energy and vigor
as I meditate like this!
I’ve attained the three knowledges
and fulfilled the Buddha’s instructions.

Paṭhamavagga

Paccayattheragāthā

“Pañcāhāhaṁ pabbajito,
sekho appattamānaso;
Vihāraṁ me paviṭṭhassa,
cetaso paṇidhī ahu.

Nāsissaṁ na pivissāmi,
vihārato na nikkhame;
Napi passaṁ nipātessaṁ,
taṇhāsalle anūhate.

Tassa mevaṁ viharato,
passa vīriyaparakkamaṁ;
Tisso vijjā anuppattā,
kataṁ buddhassa sāsanan”ti.
