Befreiung

In Sāvatthī.

Da kam spät in der Nacht eine strahlende Gottheit, die mit ihrer Schönheit Jetas Wäldchen weithin erhellte, zum Buddha, verbeugte sich, stellte sich zur Seite hin und sagte zu ihm: „Kamerad, erkennst du Befreiung, Mündigkeit und Abgeschiedenheit der Lebewesen?“

„Das tue ich, Geehrter.“

„Aber wie erkennst du Befreiung, Mündigkeit und Abgeschiedenheit der Lebewesen?“

„Durch das Auflösen des Genusses an der Wiedergeburt, durch das Enden von Wahrnehmung und Bewusstsein, durch das Aufhören und Befrieden der Gefühle – so, Geehrter, erkenne ich Befreiung, Mündigkeit und Abgeschiedenheit der Lebewesen.“

At Sāvatthī.

Then, late at night, a glorious deity, lighting up the entire Jeta’s Grove, went up to the Buddha, bowed, stood to one side, and said to him, “Good fellow, do you know the liberation, emancipation, and seclusion of sentient beings?”

“I do, good sir.”

“But how is it that you know the liberation, emancipation, and seclusion of sentient beings?”

“Due to the ending of relish for rebirth; due to the finishing of perception and consciousness; due to the cessation and stilling of feelings— that, respectable sir, is how I know the liberation, emancipation, and seclusion of sentient beings.”

Nimokkhasutta

Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

Atha kho aññatarā devatā abhikkantāya rattiyā abhikkantavaṇṇā kevalakappaṁ jetavanaṁ obhāsetvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṁ ṭhitā kho sā devatā bhagavantaṁ etadavoca: “Jānāsi no tvaṁ, mārisa, sattānaṁ nimokkhaṁ pamokkhaṁ vivekan”ti?

“Jānāmi khvāhaṁ, āvuso, sattānaṁ nimokkhaṁ pamokkhaṁ vivekan”ti.

“Yathākathaṁ pana tvaṁ, mārisa, jānāsi sattānaṁ nimokkhaṁ pamokkhaṁ vivekan”ti?

“Nandībhavaparikkhayā, Saññāviññāṇasaṅkhayā; Vedanānaṁ nirodhā upasamā, Evaṁ khvāhaṁ āvuso jānāmi; Sattānaṁ nimokkhaṁ pamokkhaṁ vivekan”ti.
