With Maṇibhadda

Mit Maṇibhadda

Einmal hielt sich der Buddha im Land der Magadher auf, beim Maṇimālika-Heiligtum, der Behausung des Naturgeistes Maṇibhadda.

Da ging der Naturgeist Maṇibhadda zum Buddha und sagte in seiner Gegenwart diese Strophe auf:

„Es ist stets glückverheißend für den Achtsamen;
der Achtsame kommt im Glück voran.
Jeder neue Tag ist für den Achtsamen besser,
und er ist von Feindschaft frei.“

„Es ist stets glückverheißend für den Achtsamen;
der Achtsame kommt im Glück voran.
Jeder neue Tag ist für den Achtsamen besser,
doch er ist von Feindschaft nicht frei.

Aber jemand, dessen Geist Tag und Nacht
an Mildherzigkeit Gefallen findet,
mit Liebe zu allen Lebewesen,
der hegt keine Feindschaft gegen irgendjemanden.“

At one time the Buddha was staying in the land of the Magadhans at the Maṇimālika Shrine, the haunt of the native spirit Maṇibhadda.

Then the native spirit Maṇibhadda went up to the Buddha, and spoke this verse in the Buddha’s presence:

“It’s always auspicious for the mindful;
the mindful prosper in happiness.
Each new day is better for the mindful,
and they are freed from enmity.”

but they’re not freed from enmity.

But someone whose mind delights in harmlessness,
all day and all night,
with love for all living creatures—
they have no enmity for anyone.”

Maṇibhaddasutta

Ekaṁ samayaṁ bhagavā magadhesu viharati maṇimālike cetiye maṇibhaddassa yakkhassa bhavane.

Atha kho maṇibhaddo yakkho yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavato santike imaṁ gāthaṁ abhāsi:

“Satīmato sadā bhaddaṁ,
satimā sukhamedhati;
Satīmato suve seyyo,
verā ca parimuccatī”ti.

“Satīmato sadā bhaddaṁ,
satimā sukhamedhati;
Satīmato suve seyyo,
verā na parimuccati.

Yassa sabbamahorattaṁ,
ahiṁsāya rato mano;
Mettaṁso sabbabhūtesu,
veraṁ tassa na kenacī”ti.
