In Sāvatthī.

„Mönche und Nonnen, ein Krug ohne Ständer ist leicht umzustoßen, aber wenn er einen Ständer hat, ist er schwer umzustoßen. Ebenso ist ein Geist ohne Ständer leicht umzustoßen, aber wenn er einen Ständer hat, ist er schwer umzustoßen.

Und was ist der Ständer für den Geist? Es ist einfach dieser edle achtfache Pfad: nämlich rechte Ansicht, rechtes Denken, rechte Rede, rechtes Handeln, rechter Lebenserwerb, rechter Einsatz, rechte Achtsamkeit und rechte Versenkung. Das ist der Ständer für den Geist.

Ein Krug ohne Ständer ist leicht umzustoßen, aber wenn er einen Ständer hat, ist er schwer umzustoßen. Ebenso ist ein Geist ohne Ständer leicht umzustoßen, aber wenn er einen Ständer hat, ist er schwer umzustoßen.“

“A pot without a stand is easy to overturn, but if it has a stand it’s hard to overturn. In the same way, a mind without a stand is easy to overturn, but if it has a stand it’s hard to overturn.

And what’s the stand for the mind? It is simply this noble eightfold path, that is: right view, right purpose, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right immersion. This is the stand for the mind.

A pot without a stand is easy to overturn, but if it has a stand it’s hard to overturn. In the same way, a mind without a stand is easy to overturn, but if it has a stand it’s hard to overturn.”

Kumbhasutta

Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

“Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, kumbho anādhāro suppavattiyo hoti, sādhāro duppavattiyo hoti; evameva kho, bhikkhave, cittaṁ anādhāraṁ suppavattiyaṁ hoti, sādhāraṁ duppavattiyaṁ hoti.

Ko ca, bhikkhave, cittassa ādhāro? Ayameva ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo, seyyathidaṁ— sammādiṭṭhi …pe… sammāsamādhi. Ayaṁ cittassa ādhāro.

Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, kumbho anādhāro suppavattiyo hoti, sādhāro duppavattiyo hoti; evameva kho, bhikkhave, cittaṁ anādhāraṁ suppavattiyaṁ hoti, sādhāraṁ duppavattiyaṁ hotī”ti.
