„Mönche und Nonnen, meditiert in Klausur. Ein Mönch, der in Klausur ist, versteht wahrhaftig. Was versteht er wahrhaftig? Er versteht wahrhaftig: ‚Das ist das Leiden.‘ … ‚Das ist der Ursprung des Leidens.‘ … ‚Das ist das Aufhören des Leidens.‘ … ‚Das ist die Übung, die zum Aufhören des Leidens führt.‘ Meditiert in Klausur. Ein Mönch, der in Klausur ist, versteht wahrhaftig.

Aus diesem Grund sollt ihr Meditation üben – um zu verstehen: ‚Das ist das Leiden.‘ … ‚Das ist der Ursprung des Leidens.‘ … ‚Das ist das Aufhören des Leidens.‘ … ‚Das ist die Übung, die zum Aufhören des Leidens führt.‘“

Retreat

“Mendicants, meditate in retreat. A mendicant in retreat truly understands. What do they truly understand? They truly understand: ‘This is suffering’ … ‘This is the origin of suffering’ … ‘This is the cessation of suffering’ … ‘This is the practice that leads to the cessation of suffering’. Meditate in retreat. A mendicant in retreat truly understands.

That’s why you should practice meditation to understand: ‘This is suffering’ … ‘This is the origin of suffering’ … ‘This is the cessation of suffering’ … ‘This is the practice that leads to the cessation of suffering’.”

Paṭisallānasutta

“Paṭisallāne, bhikkhave, yogamāpajjatha. Paṭisallīno, bhikkhave, bhikkhu yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti. Kiñca yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti? ‘Idaṁ dukkhan’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti, ‘ayaṁ dukkhasamudayo’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti, ‘ayaṁ dukkhanirodho’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti, ‘ayaṁ dukkhanirodhagāminī paṭipadā’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti. Paṭisallāne, bhikkhave, yogamāpajjatha. Paṭisallīno, bhikkhave, bhikkhu yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti.

Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, ‘idaṁ dukkhan’ti yogo karaṇīyo, ‘ayaṁ dukkhasamudayo’ti yogo karaṇīyo, ‘ayaṁ dukkhanirodho’ti yogo karaṇīyo, ‘ayaṁ dukkhanirodhagāminī paṭipadā’ti yogo karaṇīyo”ti.
