1. Das erste Kapitel
Arten der Suche (1)
Das wurde vom Buddha, dem Vollendeten, gesagt; das habe ich gehört:
„Mönche und Nonnen, es gibt drei Arten der Suche. Welche drei? Suche nach Sinnenfreuden, nach fortgesetztem Dasein und nach einem geistlichen Pfad. Das sind die drei Arten der Suche.“
Der Buddha sprach diese Sache. Dazu wird gesagt:
„Gesammelt, der Situation bewusst: Ein achtsamer Schüler des Buddha versteht die Arten der Suche, die Herkunft der Arten der Suche,
wo sie aufhören und den Pfad, der zu ihrer Auflösung führt. Mit der Auflösung des Suchens ist ein Mönch frei von Hunger, vollkommen verloschen.“
Auch das ist eine Sache, die vom Gesegneten gesprochen wurde: Das habe ich gehört.
Chapter One
Searches (1st)
This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.
“Mendicants, there are these three searches. What three? The search for sensual pleasures, the search for continued existence, and the search for a spiritual path. These are the three searches.
The Buddha spoke this matter. On this it is said:
“Stilled, aware, a mindful disciple of the Buddha understands searches, the cause of searches,
where they cease, and the path that leads to their ending. With the ending of searches, a mendicant is hungerless, quenched.”
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
Paṭhamavagga
Paṭhamaesanāsutta
Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:
“Tisso imā, bhikkhave, esanā. Katamā tisso? Kāmesanā, bhavesanā, brahmacariyesanā— imā kho, bhikkhave, tisso esanā”ti.
Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
“Samāhito sampajāno, sato buddhassa sāvako; Esanā ca pajānāti, esanānañca sambhavaṁ.
Yattha cetā nirujjhanti, maggañca khayagāminaṁ; Esanānaṁ khayā bhikkhu, nicchāto parinibbuto”ti.
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
