„Mönche und Nonnen, fünf Dinge führen zum Niedergang eines Mönchs in Schulung. Welche fünf? Er genießt Arbeit, Reden, Schlafen und Gesellschaft, und er prüft nicht, wie weit sein Geist befreit ist. Diese fünf Dinge führen zum Niedergang eines Mönchs in Schulung.
Fünf Dinge verhindern den Niedergang eines Mönchs in Schulung. Welche fünf? Er genießt Arbeit, Reden, Schlafen und Gesellschaft nicht, und er prüft, wie weit sein Geist befreit ist. Diese fünf Dinge verhindern den Niedergang eines Mönchs in Schulung.“

“Pañcime, bhikkhave, dhammā sekhassa bhikkhuno parihānāya saṁvattanti. Katame pañca? Kammārāmatā, bhassārāmatā, niddārāmatā, saṅgaṇikārāmatā, yathāvimuttaṁ cittaṁ na paccavekkhati— ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca dhammā sekhassa bhikkhuno parihānāya saṁvattanti.
Pañcime, bhikkhave, dhammā sekhassa bhikkhuno aparihānāya saṁvattanti. Katame pañca? Na kammārāmatā, na bhassārāmatā, na niddārāmatā, na saṅgaṇikārāmatā, yathāvimuttaṁ cittaṁ paccavekkhati— ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca dhammā sekhassa bhikkhuno aparihānāya saṁvattantī”ti.
