1. Das erste Kapitel

Für mich ist Wiedergeburt beendet,
die Anleitung des Siegers ist erfüllt;
was man ein „Netz“ nennt, wurde aufgegeben,
der Zug zum Dasein ist ausgerottet.

Ich habe das Ziel erreicht,
für das ich aus dem Haus
fortzog ins hauslose Leben:
die Auflösung aller Fesseln.

Chapter One

Surādha

Rebirth is ended for me;
the victor’s instruction is fulfilled;
what they call a “net” is given up;
the leash to existence is eradicated.

I’ve reached the goal
for the sake of which I went forth
from the lay life to homelessness:
the ending of all fetters.

Paṭhamavagga

Surādhattheragāthā

“Khīṇā hi mayhaṁ jāti,
vusitaṁ jinasāsanaṁ;
Pahīno jālasaṅkhāto,
bhavanetti samūhatā.

Yassatthāya pabbajito,
agārasmānagāriyaṁ;
So me attho anuppatto,
sabbasaṁyojanakkhayo”ti.
