„Als ich in einem Wald lebte, war ich Sāma der Schwarze, von Sakka erschaffen. Ich führte Löwen und Tiger im Wald durch Liebe.
Umgeben von Löwen und Tigern, von Leoparden, Bären und Büffeln, von gefleckten Hirschen und Wildschweinen, so lebte ich im Wald.
Niemand hatte Angst vor mir, noch fürchtete ich mich vor ihnen. Von der Macht der Liebe getragen erfreute ich mich damals im Wald.“

Sīhabyagghehi dīpīhi, acchehi mahisehi ca; Pasadamigavarāhehi, parivāretvā vane vasiṁ.
Na maṁ koci uttasati, napi bhāyāmi kassaci; Mettābalenupatthaddho, ramāmi pavane tadā”ti.
